Larry Jr. gave new meaning to the term, "Man's Man." He was a dedicated husband, father, friend, and son. He spent his
adult life working alongside his father, Larry Garner, Sr., in their family contracting business. He also enjoyed
helping others when it came to implementing QDMA management practices for wildlife management on area farms. Larry Jr.
was an avid bow hunter and outdoorsman who took pride in sharing his passion with those around him. His love and
knowledge of the outdoors and archery was contagious. Larry Jr. will be forever remembered as "a man committed to his
faith, to his family and to serving others."
This past year will forever be etched in the minds of those who knew and loved Larry Garner, Jr., as a season of mixed
emotions as we all dealt with the loss of one of the greatest men a person could know. While the world around us
often seems to be spinning out of control, Larry Jr. had a unique way of slowing things down enough to capture those
special moments with both his friends and family. He was the kind of person who always lent an ear and a helping hand
to those in need no matter the sacrifice. It's for these reasons that mere words fail us as we attempt to describe
the impact of the loss we all feel. While Larry Jr.'s battle with cancer and eventual passing can only be described as
catastrophic, for many of us it was also a time of great inspiration. Visiting with Larry Jr. was always a blessing
as we got to witness firsthand a man who was committed "to God, to his family, and to his friends" face a Giant much
larger than anyone could imagine with an unrelenting sense of optimism and faith that can only come when we are in
"right relationship" with our creator.
Immediately upon receiving his diagnosis of cancer and shortly thereafter learning that it had spread to his lungs,
Larry Jr. began to seek God's guidance knowing that God is truly the "Ultimate Physician."
This story can only serve as a call to action for those of us who knew and loved Larry Jr. "Camo and Bows" is a
wonderful opportunity to both honor his life and allow his family and friends to help in a small way. We would like
for you to join us at Oakhurst Farm Event Center at Jones Cross Roads for an evening to reflect on Larry Jr. There
will be a VIP dinner and a benefit auction.
